  • Context: I'm talking about American vs. Korean culture. The subject is prom. I have one student who's an absolute joy to be around. She's happy and cheery and kind, but she's always just a step behind everyone else.
  • Me: Prom is a dance that we have in our last two years of high school.
  • Student 1: Teacher, do you go with boys?
  • Me: Yes.
  • Student 1: So, did you teacher?
  • Me: Did I what?
  • Student 1: Ugh, teacher, did you go with a boy?
  • Me: Yes, my high school boyfriend.
  • Student 2: wwoooooooo-hoooooooooo! Teacher!
  • Me: [laughing] it's not that exciting.
  • Student 3: teacher, your face is red.
  • Me: I know.
  • Student 4: teacher, you have red face, we class yellow face!
