We’re in a period of desk warming/spring break/the new school year starts on March 2. Typically I’ve been in the Vice Principals office for these days until yesterday (I’m back in the VP’s office today) when I was in my original office because that’s my original office. They gave me a choice between the VP’s office and my old office where I naturally chose my old office because: I could take a nap and be utterly racked with guilt, and I could finish the 3rd installment of The Hunger Games (which I started on Friday the 17th). So I grabbed my indoor shoes and my lap blanket and went upstairs. I briefly checked my e mail, read, and took a two hour nap. The point is: I was exhausted from the weekend, my birthday weekend.
So today: my co-workers in the VP’s office are just the kindest people in the world. There are three, two females and one male, that are here every single day. One is the office assistant who gets tea and coffee and orders the food for the teachers at lunch. She’s just great. Whenever I accidentally fall asleep/nap and awake she’s standing over me with a cup of coffee. The other two, one male one female, I’m not entirely sure of what their jobs are but they are very kind.
Today they asked me why I didn’t sit in the office and one of the girls said that I wanted to take a nap. I laughhed and said yes two hours!!! They were shocked. I said, in passing, that it was my birthday on Saturday and I was tired from the weekend.
They didn’t even here the last part. All they heard was the fact that my birthday was over and they missed it. they went into a fury and found all of the bread and food and treats they could. One of the girls went into her lunch and grabbed a box of pies and the other her yogurt. I tried and tired to stop this but there’s no use: you can’t tell Korean’s to stop being kind.
The lights went out and my happy birthday song began, pictures were taken, and hugs were had.
